Being playing around with trying to get a workable negative from a fuji FP-100B packfilm negative. Day two of experimentation and things are starting to come together…


So far my process:

1.take photo, develop as usual, and keep negative safe from dust.
2.Leave negative to dry for 24 hours-ish.
3.Put negative, emulsion-side-down, onto a piece of glass(old photo frame is perfect) and tape in place.
4.Use bleach(domestos Grotbuster is perfect!) and spread across the back of the photo. Tilt the glass to spread the bleach, as this also helps lift the black backing.
4.Leave bleach for 15 seconds.
5.Rinse bleach off, and the backing black stuff will just slide off with it.
6.RInse negative and leave to dry.

That’s it!

It’s not quite…perfect but it’s getting there. I think I need to overexpose the photo a bit to get the negative correct, and the stripey bedspread didn’t help this time, but I’ll try again another day!

The negative comes out an orangey colour transparancy. I found the best results with scanning was to scan as a b&w negative in Vuescan, and then invert in photoshop, or scan as a colour slide film and change in photoshop. However, the purpose of trying this is to get a workable negative for enlarging, and i’m not too sure if it will work as it is!
